Club History
Our club is a well-established part of the community. On June 18, 1959 the club was incorporated to operate and maintain as a non-profit facility for the benefit of its members and their families. Our club continues to be an attractive facility serving the community.
Originally, the club was started by the real estate developer, White and Bollard in June of 1958, and was known as the Newport Hills Association until March, 1981. White and Bollard built the first large pool, wading pool, bath house, playground, and provided the original landscaping.
During the summer of 1960, an agreement was made between White and Bollard and Newport Hills residents to transfer operations of the club to the membership.
By June, 1963 we had added two tennis courts, a fenced ball field, and a second large pool. In addition, we had remodeled the bath house, rebuilt the wading pool, and paved the parking lot.
On June 15, 1965 transfer of the responsibility for the club was completed when White and Bollard deeded the entire four and one-half acre site and facilities to the membership.
In 1973 three new tennis courts replaced the ball field and in 1976 renovation and expansion of the bath house was completed.
A jacuzzi was added in 1983, as well as a new bubble to cover the south pool during the winter months. In the summer of 2005 the jacuzzi was replaced with a state of the art in-ground jacuzzi.
On March 11, 2000, the club completed construction of a two-level 3,700 sq. ft. building on the slope between the pools and the east parking lot, with associated improvements to disabled access from the west parking lot, sidewalk on 56th, east parking lot improvements, and landscape improvements.
The upper level is a multi-purpose room and catering area to accommodate parties, socials, meetings, aerobics classes, etc., with direct access from the east parking lot.
The lower level is a new 1,100 sq. ft. weightroom with new aerobic machines and weights. A small concessions sales area for meets is located on the north side. Access to the lower floor will be from the pool deck and clubhouse. There is deck space on the upper and lower levels.
