Newport Hills and Aces Tennis are hosting three USTA Junior Tennis Tournaments. Our first Tournament is for Novice Players on May 7 - 9th and our second tournament is for Challenger level players on May 21 - 23rd. The final Junior Challenger Tournament is September 3 - 6th.

2010 Tennis Team

Newport Hills Swim and Tennis Club participates in the Junior Eastside Tennis League. It is the top league on the Eastside for unranked players. Our Head Tennis Pro this year is Steve Bergquist. Steve will be assisted this year by Assistants Matt Richter, Andy Zorich, and Freddy Walsh.

As a member of the NHSTC Tennis Team, our players will experience competition with clubs around the Eastside and focus on improving their fundamentals, all the while making their summer tennis experience enjoyable. The team format is very flexible and works around vacation plans.

Sign-up begins Friday, May 14th. You may sign-up any time after the 14th. The team will have two team placement dates on Monday, June 14th and Wednesday, June 16th. 12&U's will play from 4-5 PM and 13&Over's will play from 5-6 PM. All team members are encouraged to attend as least one of these placement dates. The last day to sign-up for tennis team and receive the team shirt is June 16th.

Team Practices start on Monday June 21st and are held from 11:05AM-12:30PM and from 1:05 - 2:30PM, Monday through Thursday. With matches each Friday. The Team will be divided into three groups, with the A team practicing Tuesday-Thursday from 1:05-2:30. B Team will practice on Mondays from 1:05-2:30 and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11:05-12:30 while the C Team will practice on Mondays Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:05-1230 (see below). Practices include singles and doubles play, drills, activities, and competition. We will have challenge matches on Thursdays between ladders. Teams can be fluid and players may be moved up or down depending on their play. RAIN, IF QUESTIONABLE WEATHER, CALL THE FRONT DESK 1 hour prior to practice, we will not practice if the courts are wet!

The end of season tournament and Jet League Party are on TBA, (check with Steve for match times/locations). The Jet League party follows from 4-6pm at Tam O'Shanter in Bellevue/Redmond.

The tennis team banquet is on TBA from 6:30-8pm at NHSTC

2010 Matches

League play will take place on the Fridays beginning the last week of June and continues through the first week of August. A championship tournament follows league play.

We will receive the final schedule from the league the last week of May or the first week of June.

Each Week you will be notified whether your matches are home or away. Driving directions and times will be included in that information.

Junior Ladder: (Flights)

The tennis team will be using a ladder system to promote friendly competition between the teams. The challenge matches will determine which team each player practices with for the week. It will be posted on the tennis board or by the front desk.

2010 Tennis Camps

Learn skills, play games and have fun! All Abilities welcome, kids ages 6-16. We will have a snack break. Sign-up begins Monday, May 24th.

Session I: August 2nd-5th
Session II: August 9th - 13th
All times are from 10 AM to 1 PM
