2025 Junior Tennis at NHSTC


We are starting summer classes June 25th!  Most of the group lessons will be two weeks long with 4 classes. Saturday classes will be continue only to be drop-in format where you can register for one day or multiple days. Tennis classes are weather dependent. 

Sign-ups for the first session will open June 9th at 9am for members and on June 11th at 10am for non-members. For Saturday drop-in classes members can register up to 30 days before the start of the class and non-members can register 20 days before.

*​If withdrawing from a class for a medical reason, you will be given a club credit for all classes unused. Cancellation requests made after the class has started will not be eligible for club credit or refund. Club credits will be good for 2 years from the date of issue.

NHSTC Tennis Levels 

We are excited to share the changes coming to NHSTC for the summer. Our tennis programs will shift in setup and focuses, to better mirror the "leveled" learning that we offer in our Swim programs. This will give us a great chance to best serve our players and give them the most clear pathway to land where they will be challenged yet comfortable.

Level I (Red Ball)

This introductory program is ideal for players with little or no tennis experience. Participants will begin developing movement skills and learning the basic strokes, rules of the game, and court etiquette. Players will also work toward sustaining slow-paced rallies. The focus is on building fundamentals in a fun, supportive environment.

Some skills they will be focusing on: handling the racquet and hitting the ball with sound technique, coordination, balance, agility, reaction, jumping, skipping, throwing, catching, and tracking

Level II (Orange Ball)

This program builds on the foundation of skills built in level I and begins working on growing the command of shots and movement. Movement skills will become a larger focus with the intention of understanding how to affectively move on court and sustain longer rallies. Serves and point structure will become a point of emphasis in this program.

Level III (Green Ball)

This program is designed for advanced beginners, this class helps players improve stroke technique and consistency. Participants should be able to sustain a medium-paced rally, understand topspin and use it effectively, and have a reliable serve. Instruction will build on foundational skills while introducing more structured point play.

Level IV

This program is for intermediate players with improved consistency and directional control as well as spin and angles of groundstrokes. This program emphasizes technical development, tactics and patterns of play, and both singles and doubles strategy. It’s a great fit for players preparing for high school tennis or JV players aiming to move up to varsity.

Level V

This is a high-intensity program for advanced players with dependable strokes and the ability to direct shots with depth and spin on both sides. Development of offense and defense while honing your strengths, this class will stretch your learning. This level is geared toward varsity high school players or younger athletes performing at a similar competitive level. Sessions focus on advanced strategy, point construction, and match play intensity. **Entry to this group requires an evaluation with Director of Tennis, Nate Jones.

Evaluations

We are excited to announce we are now offering free evaluations if you aren't sure which level your child should sign up for.

The groups are not restricted as much by age as we know there will be players that are varied with abilities at all ages. Our goal is to get everyone a fair chance to learn and grow without feeling out of place or overwhelmed.
