Program Overview
Novice 4:30-5:00 PM-
Group Description-
Swimmers who have finished swim lessons and are ready to join swim team. In this group, we will spend the full 30 minutes building the foundation of proper technique for all strokes. This is a crucial step to ensure that swimmers have good habits and foundations before moving onto the developmental group. Swimmers will build stamina while concentrating on technique work. This is a low yardage, high technique focus group. Participation in meets is encouraged.
Requirements-
Swimmers will need to know how to swim a 25 of freestyle and backstroke. In addition, they will need to have been introduced to butterfly and breaststroke prior to joining this group.
Developmental (Prev. Intermediate) 4:30-5:30 PM-
Group Description-
In this group, swimmers and coaches will spend the hour of practice focused on continuing to build healthy swim habits while increasing the amount of yardage swam at each practice to help build stamina. We concentrate on ensuring that swimmers have proper technique to help them develop into strong and competitive swimmers. The sets will always contain drills that will help each swimmer work towards mastery of each of the four strokes. Swimmers will be introduced to using a pace clock. Our goals for swimmers in this group is to have the ability to swim each stroke properly, develop a love for the sport, and give them the tools they need to commit to swimming. Participation in meets is highly recommended
Requirements-
Swimmer must know how to swim a 50 freestyle and backstroke, and be able to swim a 25 breaststroke and butterfly.
Competition (Prev. Elite) 5:15-6:30 PM-
In this group, coaches are focused on pushing swimmers to the next level of swimming for the hour and fifteen minutes of practice. While we are continuing to focus on mastering proper technique for all four strokes, we are also building stamina and endurance by adding more yardage. In addition, swimmers will learn strategies for different races and distances, and continue to use pace clocks to help train with purpose. Swimmers will also be taught how to approach swimming with a positive mindset to maintain motivation during tough practices and improvement plateaus. Swimmers must attend meets if the schedule allows.
Requirements-
A strong passion for swimming, and athletes want to be at practice to learn and improve. Must have coach approval to join the group, this can be arranged by evaluation or through growth at intermediate practices.
